View Calendar, Email, SMS, News, Sports, and Weather on your iPhone

Want a quick glimpse of when and where  your next meeting is? or if you have new email? or a quick glance at  your SMS messages without the need to unlock your iPhone (referring to  slide to unlock) then you should checkout this nifty little native  iPhone application called IntelliScreen.

IntelliScreen allows you to look at information  available on your iPhone such as calendar entries, new email, SMS  messages, news, sports and weather directly on iPhone’s ?Slide to  Unlock? screen. So you no longer need to slide to unlock your iPhone to  access this information.

The application auto-refreshes and also allows you to open an  application from its screen directly with a “swipe”. It even  auto-checks Email when you view the unlock screen so you don’t need to  “Refresh” from Mail.app or wait 15 minutes.

Each of the items that are available on the “Slide to unlock” screen  also features scrolling so that you can quickly browse through the  required information. It also gives you the flexibility to customize  the content you want to see and where it should appear.

The only drawback of the application I can think is that it could be a drain on your iPhone’s battery.

Intelliscreen is currently in beta and is available as a native  iPhone application which means you will need a jailbroken iPhone.

Before hacking your iPhone it is a good idea to take a backup of your iPhone so you can restore it.

You can check out these posts on how to jailbreak your iPhone which will also install the Installer App: ZiPhone 3.0 – New version of Popular tool to JailBreak and Unlock iPhone or iLiberty: Easy to use Application to JailBreak, Activate and Unlock iPhone . You can then install the native application via Installer app.

To install the application via the Installer you need to add IntelliScreen’s software repository. Here are the simple steps that you need to follow to achieve this:

  • Launch the Installer app by tapping its icon on your iPhone’s home screen.
  • Tap ?Sources? button.
  • Then tap ?Edit? in the upper-right corner.
  • And tap ?Add? in the upper-left corner.
  • Enter the URL of IntelliScreen source: http://www.intelliborn.com/repo/Intelli.plist
  • Press ?OK?
  • Installer app will add the source, and you will be able to find Intelliscreen in the normal ?Install? menu.
